Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a disease that causes movement disorders such as slow movement and bradykinesia. If Parkinson's disease does not receive appropriate treatment, disorders in relation to movement may progress, making it difficult to walk and carry out daily activities. Parkinson's disease is a disease that mainly occurs in older people, as age increases, the risk of developing this disease increases. Several studies show that Parkinson's Disease has little connection to genetic factors.

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease

that occurs when dopamine cells in an area called the substantia nigra of the midbrain gradually die. Until now, nothing is clearly known as to why substantia nigra nerve cell degeneration occurs.
In some cases, the disease may occur in familial cases, but in most cases, it occurs without a family history. There are also research results that suggest that environmental influences or toxic substances are the cause, but it is not yet clear enough to explain all patients. When the exact cause of the disease is unknown, the term “idiopathic ” is used, and most cases of Parkinson's disease fall under this idiopathic Parkinson's disease.

Symptoms of Parkinson’s

Psychiatric symptoms

Depression is the most common psychiatric condition. Depression is said to occur in 40-50% of cases, but clinical features of the disease include expressionless or slow thinking, which can be mistaken for depression by people around you, so differentiation is required. Depression in Parkinson's disease is accompanied by more discomfort and sadness than self-blame or guilt. Depression can appear at any stage during the course of Parkinson's disease, and it is known to occur even before symptoms of motor abnormalities.

Sleep abnormalities

It may cause excessive drowsiness even during the day. This may be related to the treatment medication for Parkinson's disease, and many patients experience excessive drowsiness during the day as sleep quality deteriorates due to various sleep disorders including obstructive apnea.

Orthostatic hypotension

Orthostatic hypotension is a condition in which low blood pressure occurs suddenly when standing up suddenly from lying down or standing up from sitting. Patients may feel dizzy or even faint in severe cases. This phenomenon also appears in atypical Parkinson's syndrome and can also be caused by treatment medications.

Urine problems

I often have trouble sleeping at night and have to go to the bathroom to urinate. More than half of patients experience this discomfort, and it often appears from the very beginning of the disease.

Sensory nerve symptoms

Patients complain of pain, burning, or numbness. Pain mainly appears in the symptomatic body part, and the intensity of pain tends to increase in proportion to motor symptoms. On the other hand, sensory symptoms appear unrelated to motor symptoms.

Constipation and dysphagia

Dysphagia refers to a situation where the contents of food do not go down well after swallowing, and constipation is very common in patients with diseases. Many patients suffer from this phenomenon, which occurs when the motor function of the gastrointestinal tract is reduced.

Sexual dysfunction

Problems with your sex life may arise from an early age. Patients often complain of erectile dysfunction and difficulty experiencing orgasm.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Therapy can greatly help with Rheamatoid Arthritis. Specailized acupuncture points and specialized herbal formulas to help with Rheumatoid Arthritis is available here at Jiyu Healing Center.

To Treat Rheumatoid Arthritis we have to understand a little about it.  A joint is a place that connects bones to bones. Joints are surrounded by synovial membrane, a thin membrane that produces joint fluid (synovial fluid). Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory systemic disease characterized by a persistent inflammatory response in the joint synovium. The main clinical characteristic is that the continuous chronic inflammatory response of the synovium causes cartilage damage and bone erosion in the joint, and ultimately joint destruction, resulting in functional impairment. Rheumatoid arthritis is the second most common chronic arthritis disease after osteoarthritis  and the most common cause of inflammatory arthritis.

Gradual manifestation

In 55-65% of people with rheumatoid arthritis, symptoms develop gradually over weeks or months. Initially, vague symptoms such as fatigue, low-grade fever, generalized musculoskeletal pain, or a feeling of swelling in the fingers appear, and later the symptoms of synovitis become clear.Typically, it invades joints symmetrically, but often it shows a pattern of invading one joint and then the other joint, and such asymmetrical invasion can also be common.

Acute or subacute onset

Approximately 8-15% of rheumatoid arthritis patients show an acute onset, with arthritis symptoms peaking within a few days. Patients with acute onset often have asymmetrical joint involvement compared to patients with gradual onset. For patients with these acute manifestations, it is important to differentiate them from diseases such as infectious arthritis, gout, and traumatic arthritis. In 15-20% of patients, symptoms develop over several weeks and are classified as subacute.

Appearance of recurrent rheumatism

Recurrent rheumatism was first described by Hench and Rosenberg in 1942. Pain occurs in the joint or the area around the joint and is usually accompanied by swelling and redness, and the symptoms disappear completely without leaving any special aftereffects within hours or days. It shows. And during periods when these pain attacks do not occur, the patient remains almost asymptomatic. One of the characteristics of this disease is the mobility of symptoms in the joints and surrounding joints. Additionally, it is known that up to 50% of these recurrent rheumatism patients progress to rheumatoid arthritis.

Appears in old age

The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis continues to increase until people are in their 60s. Rheumatoid arthritis that occurs in people over 60 years of age generally not only has less rheumatoid factor and less occurrence of subcutaneous nodules, but also tends to have a milder clinical course compared to patients that develop at a younger age.
